Racing & Bloodstock

Having had a few runners we are now in a better position to assess where the horses are in regards to fitness. Most of our first runners will need a run and these will bring the next ones on. Return Ticket ran a lovely race to two out before going for his girth’s. He stayed the trip well enough but we wouldn’t be afraid to pull him back to 2m and as such, has an entry at Carlisle on Thursday. Buster Valentine ran well until two out and maybe a combination of tiredness and the trip on quicker ground meant he didn’t look like he galloped to the line. He will probably step up in trip next time. Black Ebony’s schooling at home had slowly improved so he made a better shape albeit spending a lot of time in the air. The run at 2m was to sharpen him up over his jumps and he stayed on well up the hill. He will appreciate stepping up in trip. Blossoming Forth ran very disappointingly and we were at a loss to explain why until a blood test showed she was in season.

Tomorrow we run Cyrus Keep, the first foal out of Overbranch. A lovely little horse by Doyen he is very genuine and shows a great attitude at home. He may need the run and experience and not many of the family won bumpers but improved for racing.
